Who we are
Amitié was created in 1991 as part of a University-Enterprise Training Partnership in the framework of the COMETT Programme, sponsored by the European Commission, with the aim to promote training activities in the Information and Communication Technology sector. In 1995 Amitié created a private organisation carrying out the following activities: research in the field of new methodologies of learning, project management, consulting and assistance for EC funded projects, dissemination and promotion initiatives, pilot training activities, etc. Amitié has been the coordinator of the STELLA project (Lifelong Learning Programme) on which the STENCIL Network is based and also partner of the previous GRID project (Socrates Action 6) coordinated by the Pôle Universitaire Européen de Nancy (France).

Who we are
Institute for Innovation in Learning (FIM-NewLearning) at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität of Erlangen-Nürnberg, is continuously working on media and network-based learning and qualification systems in the context of lifelong learning since 1976. Since 1986 it has extensively been involved in European Research and Development Projects in the field of innovative learning technologies. Since 1993 ILI has been developing, implementing and evaluating integrated pedagogical and technological concepts for promoting technology enhanced learning adapted to the needs of different target groups like pupils, students, student-teachers and teachers, handicapped, families, senior citizens, SMEs, etc. From 1999 on FIM coordinated the set up of the Bavarian Virtual University. ILI is involved in adult education - psychology and pedagogy - in the context of the development of innovative teaching and learning approaches - eLearning.

The French "Université de Lorraine" (University of Lorraine, UL) was created on the 1st of January 2012 from the merging of the 4 universities previously situated in the Region. The main research area of IPAK Institute are development of new approaches in education using ICT technologies, development of web applications and internet services, development of creativity and creative communities, development of innovations and invention by young people. IPAK has very good relationships with industrial companies, municipality and educational institutions at Velenje. IPAK realized several projects in Slovenia where science, technology and creativity were promoted and in which participated pupils and students, who were solving different types of projects. IPAK staff has a strong experience in the participation of transnational projects in the field of education and of the industrial research programme Eureka. In the past the institute developed strong transnational collaboration with partners from different parts of the US world (Silicon Valley), several EU partners, educational and research institutions from South-eastern Europe, research institutions from Russia.

Who we are
The Bologna Research Area of the Italian National Research Council offers services and support to the on-site National Research Council (CNR) and the National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF) laboratories as well as to those in other cities of the Emilia-Romagna region. AdR-Bo includes 8 Institutes of CNR and INAF, a central Area Library linked to the National scientific library service, a Conference Centre and ancillary services. The Institutes in the Bologna Research Area are involved in a broad range of thematic areas: Earth and Environment (ISAC and ISMAR); Materials and Devices (IMM); Agriculture and Food (IBIMET); Molecular Design (ISMN and ISOF); Radioastronomy, Astrophysics and Cosmology (IRA and IASF-Bologna). Officina Emilia is an initiative of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, which studies and promotes the local industrial heritage, its past and present history, and future prospects, with particular regard to the mechanical industrial district of the region Emilia-Romagna. It has created a museum-workshop with exhibits related to the local production of mechanical parts, and several operating machine-tools to show visitors the processes and methods of metalworking. The multi-functional interactive museum-workshop of Officina Emilia offers an opportunity for visits, research and hands-on laboratories for students of all age groups in order to promote a better understanding of the local industry, and involve and motivate to the study of science and technology as essential support for promoting economic and social growth.

Who we are
The PhysikClub is part of the “Youth Academy” which provides special opportunities for interested and gifted students. It is located at the Albert-Schweitzer-Schule but is open to students of all other schools in Kassel. The students (age 10-13 and 14-19) work in small teams on interesting and up-to-date subjects from science (physics, astronomy, biology, chemistry, IT, geophysics). Teachers and student-teachers act only as advisors, not as instructors, they train the students in soft-skills and self-organization concerning their work. Contacts between experts at universities and enterprises are arranged. The student research teams work on an issue for one or two years and participate to national, regional and even European competitions. The concept of the PhysikClub is unique in Germany and has won a lot of important national awards.

Who we are
MTSN promotes scientific culture with the aim of making it accessible to the public at large. It pays particular attention to the development of educational activities. To reach this objective - and in particular to foster innovation in the science education and divulgation - it has developed a wide network of museums and research centres that covers the whole territory of the Trento Province. The educational department of the Museum is managed by a team of 6 persons which coordinate about 100 of museum operators. The educational activities are offered to an audience of about 60.000 visitors per year (students and pupils). MTSN is also active on scientific research, with different sections devoted to Botany, Geology, Invertebrate Zoology, etc. The research work carried out by the Museum includes scientific articles and participation to relevant congresses and conferences at international level.

Who we are
EBSSC is a secondary school in Santa Cruz (Madeira) which offers to pupils from 11 to 18 year an extracurricular activity - the Robotics Club - designed to develop skills in the areas of computers, mechanics, physics, mathematics and electronics, particularly in relation to robotics. Students enrol at the beginning of the school year and meet once a week for 90 minutes to programme their robot designs. They have an active role in the development of their robots, and to every extent possible, they work on their own. The Club works together with the school’s committee for Cultural Promotion on a variety of activities for demonstration purposes and for promoting awareness of the related science subjects. Every year the Club organised MadRobǒ–Robotics Meeting, an event to promote science and technology among young people from primary, secondary and or higher levels of education.

The "Anadolu Öġretmen Lisesi" (Anatolian Teachers Training High School) is a state school which is the most successful one in the city. Our school was built in 1973 and since then it has been mostly giving a science education. Students enter that school by examination and the success in university entrance exam is very high (around 90 %). There are about 36 teachers and 469 students. The age of the students range from 14-18 year-old. We have 19 classrooms and 332 students are studying at science departments. Their curriculum is mostly dealing with Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. Our students are also studying two foreign languages English and German. We have 1 Biology Lab, 1 Chemistry Lab, 2 Technology Labs - all of them equipped with modern technological devices. We have 2 Biology, 2 Chemistry, 2 Physics and 6 Mathematics teachers. The school aims at preparing students for University as well as to train science teachers.

P18: TRON / Scientific High School N. Tron - Italy (IT)

Who we are
The Scientific High School N. Tron counts 1050 pupils, 45 classes, 93 teachers. The school is equipped with an efficient internet and intranet system which facilitates communication inside and outside the school as well as the management of the teaching actitivities. Liceo Tron includes different patterns of courses: from the “basic scientific” to the “modern scientific” and the "Technological Scientific". Additionally the Liceo recently activated the European Scientific course which focuses not only on science education but also on the learning of English and Germany as foreign languages. Liceo Tron is the coordinator of the EGS – Energy Education Governance Schools project, supported by the Intelligent Energy Europe Program. EGS project involves 23 partners from 10 EU countries working with 13 high schools to assess the actual framework of implementation of energy efficiency in EU and to collect best practices.

The school was established in 1837. Its mission is to educate and create conditions for successful future development and growth of young people. Joint teams of students, teachers and parents working in the realization of many national and international projects related to the project, teams and e-learning. As a result of a joint research project "Distributed eLearning center" in Plovdiv University, Humboldt University in Berlin and the University of Limerick, Ireland we have developed a prototype of a SCORM-based school educational portal (http://sou-brezovo.org). IT projects, which students develop in the Pupil's research school on IT successfully participate in national conferences, competitions and IT Olympiads.

The Liceo has taken part in "The Special Language of Research" project since 2005 with 24 classes and has produced numerous materials such as videos, web sites, brochures, and multimedia presentations. Some of these works has received recognition in competitions relating to environmental education and presented to the Italian Parliament in occasion of the Scientific Studies Day linked to the Sapio prize and the Extreme Energy Events project. The Liceo has also been chosen as one of the pilot schools relating to the construction and hosting of the MRPC telescope that studies and searches for cosmic rays.
